The New Necklace by William McGregor Paxton at the MFA Boston

This painting was a favorite of my Aunt Betty's. I'm posting it today because I'm thinking a lot about the family members who have died. Most of the rest of us are gathering in the middle of the country this coming Saturday to celebrate my sister's wedding. Aunt Betty would have loved to have been here with us all.

This used to be in the Rotundra of the MFA but was moved when they opened up the new Art of the America's wing. The ladies at the info desk were stumped when I asked about it's new whereabouts. I couldn't remember exactly what was in the painting, just where is was and that there was a woman in a pink robe in it. And also that it looks like a Sargent but definitely wasn't a Sargent. They knew what I was talking about and loved trying to remember exactly the name and painting and finding its whereabouts. One used the online catalog, another used just a google search and a third used the book catalog. The old fashion way won! (Hooray old school browsing!) And I was able to locate Paxton's "The New Necklace" in the Art of the America's wing.
