A Very Local Labor Day, Just Enjoying the Neighborhood: Boston's Roslindale, Jamaica Plain (Forest Hills), and Hyde Park
For Labor Day weekend, I had no plans and no agenda. I stayed home and loafed and enjoyed the neighborhood. It was so delightful!
Late afternoon sun over Turtle Pond in Hyde Park, Boston's Stony Brook Reservation |
Every time I take a picture of Turtle Pond I always make the same kind of "isn't city life just the pits" kind of joke. But, can you believe this is Boston? Because it really is. Thanks, Frederick Law Olmsted!
There is a Rose in Spanish Roslindale |
I saw this as I was walking to Eugene O'Neill's Pub at Forest Hills. People have some pretty cute little city gardens in the neighborhood (including moi, of course!)
I don't mean to be cocky, but I live in a great area Still haven't gotten a sandwich at Tostado's though! |
Why hello there, Giant Metal Rooster. This Big Cock is right on the border of Jamaica Plain and Roslindale at the sandwich shop, Tostado.
Sunset over Peters Hill at the Arnold Arboretum as seen from a distance |
I posted this to the Facebook group "Keep Roslindale Quirky" and it has over a 125 likes now! This was just from the living room window. I took a nice walk up to Peters Hill on Sunday evening. It was as beautiful as ever.
Rimz! Serious, serious rims. |
Talk about quirky! These are some SERIOUS rims. Spotted along the way back home from the pub on Monday night.

Ah the luxury of a leisurely afternoon: my eyebrows are so even and bangs are so poufy. Plus I wore those pretty earring my extra-mum Cindy gave me a while back. This was me, walking down the road to Eugene O'Neill's, the pub where I have serious writing, edit and revising mojo. I think because it is imbued with the spirit of its namesake, his final resting place being but .25 miles away.
